Curiously Ubiquitous

Two points to…

So at work during our twice a week meetings we always have someone who is in a jokester mood. The joking usually comes out in some smart aleck comment when another employee is complaining or says something that is a bit off and hilarity usually ensues. So with that I am going to keep a running log of those comments and, if I can remember, a record of what sparked the comment.

Here are the current few I can remember:

David: I will not be around as often as I am going to Graduate school.
Greg: Translation: “I’m sorry my success is inconvenient for you”.

Ray: Well they need a faster speed, what comes between 3 & 10?
Marc: 4, 5,….6….7…8……9.
Ray: Shut up…

Pam$5.20 to drive to work in the “express” lanes but we are going 20mph. #ripoff
(Image of traffic and freeway, on the ground it says “Exprs”)
JoshOh that’s the exprs lane. It’s the Chinese knockoff express lane. Doesn’t work quite as well.

If you feel like searching for these in the future as I add more, the hash tag for these will be: #TwoPointsTo

Hope you got a few laughs and that your doing well!
Peace be with you.

Francis Scott Key Key

“We have abundant reason to rejoice that in this Land the light of truth and reason has triumphed over the power of bigotry and superstition… In this enlightened Age and in this Land of equal liberty it is our boast, that a man’s religious tenets will not forfeit the protection of the Laws, nor deprive him of the right of attaining and holding the highest Offices that are known in the United States.”
– George Washington – Baltimore – January 27, 1793

The passage above made by this nations greatest founding father was his attempt at calling out those who should serve, even if they had different opinions & beliefs then his own or what were the popular at the time.

Are you living the life you are called to? Are you making the choices you should based upon your faith?

We all have challenges and weaknesses, it is what you are doing here and now that makes the difference, because you can’t change the past.

Good night dear reader, God bless and peace be with you.

#NeverFlyNorwegian

Let me tell you about my attempted flight with Norwegian Airlines.

We had been backed away from the gate and the captain came on to report that during the start up checklist he noticed a reported mechanical issue with the Wing Spoiler before pulling away and was now going through a second test. The second test failed as well, so maintenance was called. LAX would not grant us a new gate or let us return to the original gate, so we were towed to an outlying facility for maintenance while the passengers waited on board.

After 4 hours, the engineers reported back that they were unable to isolate the issue, and we were being removed from the plane for the night. Buses were brought out to the remote terminal to take us back to the Tom Bradley terminal. After waiting 2 hours in the new terminal, Norwegian notified everyone that we need to leave the terminal area and go to baggage claim, where we were promised food, drinks and a place to rest while things were sorted out. (Side note: President Obama is in town, so got a nice shot of Air Force one.) [soliloquy id=”134″]

Unfortunately, the baggage section they moved us to is under construction so 30 minutes later with no food, water or hotels we were asked to leave the Tom Bradley terminal so construction could continue.

Its now 0230am, many passengers have attempted to find hotels, and most every hotel within 50 miles are all sold out (Something even the airline admitted). So 300+ people(including many families and European tourists) have now been kicked out of the airport, with no access to hotel rooms, no cash assistance, no food, no water. Its a nightmare and almost became a riot.

So now almost 9 hours later, their has been no proactive contact from the airline. The airline website still lists last nights flight as delayed:
http://www.norwegian.com/uk/customer-services/flight-tracker/?D_Airport=LAX&A_Airport=LGW&FlightCode=DY7096&D_Day=23&D_Month=201407&D_TIME=2030

Calls to customer service result in a “Sorry we can not help you. You are welcome to cancel your flight and get a refund.”

All this to say, Norwegian is a terrible Airline, with horrible customer service who has ruined trips for hundreds of people with little to no remorse.

As of now, personally I will miss my connecting train to Paris, two business meetings, have wasted a hotel night in London and am left with the worst customer service experience ever.
Also as a sad coincidence My fiance who attempted to surprise me by joining my flight is upset and feels lied to by the airline (as do the rest of the passengers). No good deed goes unpunished.

Will we see this situation fixed? It’s not looking that way so far. So off we go into battle trying to get someone who has the power to fix this to notice us.

Thanks for the support, tweets and kind words from other travelers.

I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is here (points to head), and here (points to heart), and in what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man… or not.

Hospitaller – Kingdom of Heaven – Actor: David Thewlis

God wills it! =)

Religion is such a misunderstood thing. It’s different and deeply personal for all of us, so it’s no wonder that we mess things up at times. Its tough balancing our life, time, work, activities and remembering to place God into all of those and in his own private time also.

I hope you are all doing well. =)

Peace be with you.

Awake

All men whilst they are awake are in one common world: but each of them, when he is asleep, is in a world of his own.
– Plutarch

It was not until a few years ago that I started to understand the term, peace be with you. Its not about not going to war, its about a mental peace washing over you. In the middle of a struggle or difficulty its hard to be calm in all that is stressing you.

Peace is not about running away from your fears or issues, but about knowing that you can only do so much, the rest is up to God, and being completely comfortable with that.

Don’t run away, embrace the issues and work through them. Don’t. Ever. Give. Up.

Good night world… peace be with you.

Priorities

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

– Ephesians 4:32

What are your priorities?
Mine are love, kindness, forgiveness, faith, hope and love (Love is in twice, because it is that important).

Their are many ways to love, some specific for certain relationships and others for everyone to enjoy.

Love through compassion, even when they are angry, bitter and hurt.

Love through giving. When you give of your time, talent and treasure, you are showing you care.

Love through prayer. Even if they don’t have faith, nothing should prevent you from praying for them.

Remember though, you are not God and you don’t know all that they are going through, so pray for guidance, support and love for them.

Love through faith. Faith in them and that God will guide them and they will make the right choice.

Love through forgiveness. Everyone makes mistakes, some are just much, much larger then others. You can still forgive and you should, you will feel better too.

Love though patience. Time is hard to sacrifice, we all what we want, and we want it now! Give of your patience and support. Help each other.

Lastly, love through kindness. A smile, a soft word, a kind word, a sign of affection. Each of these kind actions will make a huge diffrence for someone.

Someone said thanks to me today, it was like water in a desert, just what was needed.

Good night to you all and peace be with you.

Life Experiences

Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.
– Martin Luther King, Jr.

Continuing with the theme of attitude; bitterness the cousin to anger will rear its ugly head if you don’t watch out. Life is hard, but then again no one said it would be easy.

I hope you are all enjoying this day of our Lord.

Peace be with you. =)

God bless…

A perspective on a glass half full or empty?

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”
― Abraham Lincoln

T: The glass is half full and you always see it as half empty.
A: Can we at least agree its not full yet?
– West Wing

This post is based on the idea that perspective and attitude make up your life. Though each quote above is relatively simple, each reader will see them though their own eyes and predispositions.

In this case, I think of my current self-inflicted difficulties. I am going though a rough patch that I will not involve you in dear reader, but suffice to say, it doesn’t get any harder then this.

Getting away from the struggles, I ask to be… “sound in faith, in love and in patience.”  and “… to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world.  To be filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of God and Jesus Christ. He gave himself to rescue us from everything that is evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right.” -Titus

With that I say good night, good and faithful servant, good night and peace be with you.

Strength. Courage. Conviction.

“Father, give us courage to change what must be altered, serenity to accept what cannot be helped, and the insight to know the one from the other.”  – Reinhold Niebuhr

This is the first iteration of the Serenity prayer. It’s changed quite a bit over the years, but this version is my favorite.

Hope your all doing well!
